CLIFTON KARHU
Born in the Duluth, Minn in 1927,
Clifton Karhu was exposed to the art of
Japanese prints in his post-war military
duty and then returned to the US to
study art. After returning to Japan in
1952 as a missionary, Karhu traveled
extensively until he resigned from the
ministry and took up his art again.
In 1963, he moved to Kyoto and became
interested in woodblock print production
becoming the subject of many
international exhibitions until his death
in 2007. |
